MakiAcademy
A Thriving Online Math Learning System

Two years ago, I set out on a mission to make math learning more engaging, accessible, and inspiring for young students in Vietnam. What started as a simple online class soon grew into Makiacademy, a structured, interactive online math learning system designed to help 4th and 5th-grade students prepare for middle school entrance exams.
But behind the numbers and achievements was a long journey filled with challenges, dedication, and the unwavering belief that every child, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to learn.
The First Step: Teaching and Growing an Online Classroom
At the beginning, I launched my first online math course on Zoom, teaching a small group of students who needed support for their entrance exams. I spent hours designing engaging live lessons that combined theory with real-life applications, interactive exercises, and inspiring stories about famous mathematicians.
Word spread quickly. Soon, what started as a single class turned into a thriving program. Over time, I successfully taught 27 paid math courses to more than 2,000 students from urban areas.
But as the program grew, so did my awareness of the educational gap between students who could afford extra classes and those who couldn’t. Determined to bridge this divide, I started offering over 60 free lessons, reaching 400+ disadvantaged students who lacked access to quality math education.

Leveraging Technology to Expand Impact
Realizing the potential of digital platforms, I strategically used Facebook Ads and local announcements to promote MakiAcademy, ensuring it reached as many students as possible. The response was overwhelming, each lecture video averaged 1,000+ views, proving that there was a high demand for engaging, well-structured math lessons.
With this growing interest, MakiAcademy became more than just an online course, it became a community where students could not only learn math but also develop a love for problem-solving and logical thinking.
Building a Team for Greater Reach
As more students joined, I knew I couldn’t do it alone. I built a dedicated team of volunteer teachers, each passionate about making education accessible. Together, we launched a free Zoom tutoring initiative, reaching 500+ students from five underfunded elementary schools.
Beyond just solving math problems, we introduced students to the fascinating world of mathematics by sharing stories of renowned mathematicians, from Gauss to Ramanujan, hoping to spark their curiosity and ambition.
Empowering Students Through Scholarships
While free lessons helped many, I knew some students still faced significant barriers due to financial hardship. To address this, I established MakiAcademy Scholarships, raising funds to distribute 12 scholarships worth over $2,000 to students from impoverished schools in Ben Tre province.
These scholarships were not just financial aid; they were a message of hope, a belief that despite their circumstances, these students had the potential to excel if given the right support.
Looking Back, Moving Forward
From a small online math class to a comprehensive learning platform serving thousands of students, Makiacademyhas been a journey of passion, perseverance, and purpose.
But this is only the beginning. The vision remains clear: to make math education engaging, accessible, and inspiring for every child, no matter where they come from.
